Cambodian temples are not only about Angkor Wat, but some other famous temples are seldom forgotten. One of them is Banteay Chhmar, built in the late 12th-century, or roughly 900 years old now.

Samyutta Nikaya 15:5

A certain monk asked the Buddha,” Venerable sir, how long is an eon?”

The Buddha answered the question as follows:” An eon is long, monk.it is not easy to count it and say it is so many years, or so many hundreds of years, or so many thousands of years, or so many hundreds of thousands of years.”
“Then, is it possible to give a simile, venerable sir?”
“It is possible, monk.,” the Blessed One said. “Suppose, monk, there was a great stone mountain, a yojana (or mile) long, a yojana wide, and a yojana high, without holes or crevices, one solid mass of rock. At the end of every hundred years, a man would stroke it once with a a piece of fine cloth. That great stone mountain might by this effort be worn away and eliminated, nut the eon would still not have come to an end. so long is an eon, monk. and of eons of such length, we have wondered through so many hundreds of eons, so many thousands of eons, so many hundreds of thousands of eons. For what reason? Because, monk, this samsara (or birth and death cycle) is without discoverable beginning …. It is enough to be liberated from them.”8

One of UNESCO’s world heritage sites, Lumbini Garden is one of the Four Holiest Places for Buddhists. The other three are (i) Bodh Gaya, where Prince Siddhartha Gautama, also known as Prince Siddhattha Gotama in the Pali, reached the Great Enlightenment, thereby, becoming the Supreme Buddha; (ii) The Deer Park at Isipatana, where the Buddha gave his first sermon; and (iii) Kushinagar where he passed away, or reached the Supreme Nibbana.

A new study found the relationship between spirituality and changes in certain areas of the brain, and that brain structure has evolved since ancient times influenced by how we think.

Scientists have long suspected that religiosity and spirituality could be mapped to specific brain circuits, but the location of those circuits remains unknown. Now, a new study using novel technology and the human connectome, a map of neural connections, has identified a brain circuit that seems to mediate that aspect of our personality.

The work appears in Biological Psychiatry, published by Elsevier.

What China has achieved over the past four decades were not just its visible glittering buildings, and first-class infrastructure. For the inherent strength of China’s rejuvenation lies in its commitment towards sustainable growth and development with a focus on the environment and green technology.

Similarly, China places great emphasis on the continuous development of humanity by the embrace of culture, science and technology as its priorities. Over the past 40 years, China has increased its forest cover from just 12% to 23% now. When one takes into consideration the fact that China’s national land area amounts to some 9.6 square million kilometres, about the size of the United States. In other words, China has planted just over one million square kilometres of forest. That is the size of Egypt!

China is also the only country in world which has successfully reversed the seemingly unstoppable desertification, by turning its desserts into forest, farm lands, and wetlands. The area of desertified land in the country is dropping by an annual average of more than 2,400 square kilometres, or three times the size of Singapore, compared to what used to be an annual average expansion of over 10,000 square kilometres at the end of the last century.

By 2014, China had completed and commissioned its mid-line stretch of the South-North Water Diversion Project. This 1,300 kilometres dedicated, largely gravitational-flow, water supply channel diverts water from the Danjiangkou Reservoir in the upper reaches of the Han River, passing through mountains, crossing rivers, and finally reaching and transferring 9.5 billion cu meters of water annually to Beijing and Tianjin.

To put this into perspective, the annual per capita water consumption of the Asian cities: Tokyo, Singapore, Seoul, and Hong Kong are at 84, 52, 104, and 80 cu meters per annum respectively; with the average consumption of 80 cu meters per annum. In other words, the amount of water transfer annually is adequate to sustain an urban population of over 110 million people with clean and potable water.”
